Hello, everybody! Did you know you can add a custom vibration to your iPhone? Did you also know that you can create one for a specific contact so you know who’s calling you when the ringer’s off? Well, if you didn’t, you totally can!  There’s more than one way to do it, but this nifty guide will show you the best way to add a custom vibration to your iPhone for a specific contact.

Here’s how:

Open your contacts and pull up the contact you want to change the vibration for and tap “Edit” at the top right. There, you’ll see the Edit menu. Scroll until you see “Ringtone”. Under that, you’ll see “Vibration”. Tap the arrow to continue.

On the Vibration menu, scroll until you see the “Custom” heading. Under that, it will say, “Create New Vibration” (along with all the custom vibrations you may have already created). Tap the arrow.

Here’s the fun part! In the center of the screen, it will read, “Tap to create a new vibration pattern.” Just tap out anything you so desire. Use a quick tap for short vibrations, and leave your finger on a little longer for a more lengthy one. Experiment, and have fun! (I chose to do the rhythm of the “charge!” sound you hear at sporting events.)

When you are finished, you can play it back to listen to it. If you don’t like it, you can try again by pushing “Record” at the lower right. When you decide it’s just right, tap “Save” at the top right corner.

Your new custom vibration will be automatically checked to be added to your contact. All you have to do is press “Done”.

And there you have it! Your custom vibration pattern will now be assigned to that contact. You can also set it as their text vibration and to any other contact you may wish!

As stated before, there are other ways to add a custom vibration to your iPhone (under Settings and Sounds), but this is the quickest and easiest way to create a custom vibration for a specific contact. iPhones have many features you may or may not know about, and this is one of the coolest. It lets you be creative and make your phone truly yours.
